Is rosemary good in coffee?
There is really no flavor quite like rosemary. It is a woodsy herb with subtle notes of mint, sage, pepper, and balsamic. Many associate rosemary with savory recipes, commonly used to enhance bread, soups, roasts, poultry, and vegetables. The exciting, and perhaps surprising, news is that rosemary is also a delightful addition to coffee. In fact, the delicate, earthy, almost floral, almost spicy aroma adds another dimension to the coffee experience. The synchrony of flavors comes alive with a dash of sweetener and frothy milk.
Why incorporate rosemary into your latte?
Hailing from the Mediterranean, rosemary is an evergreen herb valued for its medicinal, aromatherapeutic, and culinary benefits, many of which are captured in the rosemary latte experience.
In addition to imparting distinct flavor, rosemary offers the following benefits:
Medicinal: It contains various vitamins and minerals, one being manganese, vital in metabolic health and injury healing. It also contains compounds known for their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immune-supporting properties. In traditional medicine, rosemary is used to aid digestion and memory.
Aromatherapeutic: The scent of rosemary is both invigorating and calming. It is believed to enhance mental clarity and concentration, promote relaxation, and contribute to a positive mood. It blends well with other aromas, lending to creative combinations.
Culinary: Rosemary is a highly versatile herb that can be baked, sauteed, steeped, and infused. As a potent flavor enhancer, rosemary adds depth and complexity, unlike any other herb.
If you have not yet experienced the blending of harmony of coffee and rosemary, consider this your formal invitation to try it out.
