(Update) The Wonderful Linda Chock Made it Right!
I had been quite upset due to receiving a recent order from Amazon, from which I had been purchasing the Hurricane espresso every month for several years. The reason being is that since I KNOW this coffee well, I knew immediately that this was the wrong kind. Not the lovely Dark, Oily beans at all, but some dried out, light coloured, truly HORRIBLE whatever it was. And, if that were not bad enough, an added insult was that the 'Best By' date was only ONE MONTH away! Seriously...?!
This had never happened before in all these years. I had received a refund from Amazon and a month later tried to order it again hoping in a month's time they would hopefully have straightened it out. Nope... still got the same, BLOODY awful coffee. I called them again and received another refund and I felt that I should write the company here itself to let them know what was happening.
Well, Linda Chock, in all her Wonderfullness, wrote me back right away and expressed sincere concern form what had happened. I was immediately sent a replacement that I just now received. And yes, through that nice, clear bag I could see those LOVELY Dark, Oily beans that I have come to love (I've tried many other supposedly highly rated dark organic roasts, but NONE of them have really come close to this Hurricane espresso!)
So yes, now I will likely be ordering directly from these fine people, even though the cost is higher and probably will be more with shipping. But, in order to get the proper kind…

Nice dark roast, though a little greasy
The flavor of the Hurricane Espresso is darker than I would have expected with the description saying it was medium-dark. I was also a little disappointed to find that the beans are fairly oily, which causes me to have heartburn. I’m not sure about the roasting process used, since I have gotten medium/dark roasts that are not greasy, so I know it is possible! Overall I like the flavor but I probably won’t order this particular one again.
