Most frequent questions and answers about our coffee

For about every 8 ounces of our brewed coffee, there’s approximately 90-150 mg of caffeine. As a general rule, lighter coffee roasts will contain more caffeine. A lighter roast like our Breakfast Blend will yield about 150 mg of caffeine. A dark roast like our French Roast will have a caffeine level closer to 90 mg.

All of our products are gluten-free. Gluten is a protein composite found in foods processed from wheat and other related grain such as barley, rye and oats. We do not use any flavors or oils that contain gluten; therefore, there is no risk in cross-contamination.

Yes. We check each container of coffee that we receive for moisture content and water activity (in addition to other quality evaluations). Molds can develop at ~15% moisture and above. Water activity refers to unbound water found in coffee which is not bound to coffee molecules and which is free to support the growth of bacteria, yeasts and molds/fungi. Coffees received which are outside of our quality specifications for moisture or water activity are tested specifically for mycotoxin contamination. We store the coffee in a temperature controlled environment until right before roasting at 450-550 degrees Fahrenheit. All of these testing and handling processes limit any opportunity for mold/fungus growth.

We use natural and artificial flavors only in our flavored coffee blends. For our organic flavored coffee blends, only natural flavors are used.

The natural flavors that we use adhere and comply with government guidelines – no chemicals, preservatives, additives, genetic modifications, or ionizing radiations. The natural flavors are basically essential oils or essences, which contain the flavoring ingredients that are derived from a spice, fruit or fruit juice, vegetable or vegetable juice, edible yeast, herb, bark, bud, root, leaf or similar plant material. These flavors’ significant function in our coffee blends is flavoring rather than nutritional.

No sugar or sweetener is added to any of our coffee. The secret to our flavored coffee is that we use natural oils and essences derived from flavoring ingredients such as spices and herbs. In the end, it’s just fresh, perfectly roasted 100% Arabica coffee.

In a serving cup size of 8 fluid ounces of coffee, you would get less than 7mg of sodium from the coffee.
